Charge anxiety? We’re here to help

Making the change to an electric vehicle from a combustion vehicle can affect daily routines for most people.   Thinking about how and where we will charge our car (having been used to being able to drop into a petrol station) requires a real change in mindset – and can lead to charge anxiety.

So what is charge anxiety and why does it happen?

Charge anxiety is created when someone feels uncertain; or has negative feelings about being able to access an EV car charging point.1 It’s when you’re unsure where and when you can charge your electric car2.

How can charge anxiety be overcome?

  • Having the convenience of a home electric car charger can remove most of the uncertainty, especially if you plan your journeys.

  • Being able to schedule your home electric car charger through the easy to use apps which connect to the charger puts you in control of when you charge your EV.

  • Charge whilst you sleep! A home electric car charger means that you can make sure that your EV is fully charged overnight.

  • If you are on a long journey take the opportunity to charge your EV whilst you are having a comfort break .

Charge anxiety is reduced when you know that you have a charger available at home; and that it is guaranteed to work3.

Research from the Office for Zero Emissions Vehicles (OZEV), suggests that the frequency of EV charging is actually less than people first imagine when they are considering switching to an electric vehicle4.

With a wide range of options available on the market there is something to suit everyone’s budget, requirements and tastes
