Century old wholesaler starts their electric journey

Albert Harrison & Co are over one hundred years old and started as a fledgling wholesale business by a young Hilda Coupe, in her parent’s tiny front room on Manchester Road in Accrington.

Today they’re a multi-million-pound operation based in Padiham, providing confectionery, toiletries, GSL medicines, toys, household, gifts, stationery and much more to thousands of retailers nationally.

During their 100+ years in business no doubt they have been through massive change, caused by world occurrences and innovation, with the shift towards electrification being the latest.

Managing Director, Paul Sanderson, is in the initial stages of planning their fleet move to electrification and contacted our team to see how we could help them.

Our approach is always to provide a free consultation with site survey, to discuss current and future needs, charge point speed location features and aesthetics, and to check spare electricity capacity.

Our solution provides fast charging (up to 22Kw) for four vehicles simultaneously and includes two twin socket Project EV pedestals, which required groundworks and installation of barriers. To protect the circuit (when four vehicles are charging) a load balancing device has also been installed.

This is likely to be phase 1 for Albert Harrison, with further charge points to be installed in the future, as their fleet switch to electric over time, and available power for this seems to be good.

As a government approved charge point installer, our role is to help companies access the grant system, and as part of our consultation we helped Albert Harrison & Co Ltd save £1,400.00.
